Faith, Hope, and Love

“And now these three remain:
faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” – 1 Corinthians 13:13,
NIV
When it came time for Rodney
and Trudy’s wedding anniversary, they decided to skip the fancy dinner out and
the expensive gifts. What they both craved the most with their busy schedules
was simply a night together with their family.
So while the two cooked their
favorite meal, they laughed and joked. As they ate with their teenage boys,
they shared stories about how they met and what life had been like when they
were dating.
Rodney shared how the pair
almost didn’t connect on their first date because she’d gone to the wrong
restaurant. He said, “I was just about to head out the door when I spotted your
mom looking sheepish in the doorway.”
Trudy laughed, “But you told
me later that night that I’d been worth the wait.”
Stories from your own life can
comfort your children. It doesn’t matter if you’re still with your child’s
father or mother. It gives kids a sense of security when they understand their
family history and how God has been with your family.
God, help me to share my story—both the good and the
bad—with future generations. Help me to show them how You have shaped our
family and loved us through it all. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
